Pavement rehabilitation works underway on Horrocks Highway
Thursday, 1 September 2022
Works to deliver a smoother and safer Horrocks Highway along two sections between Tarlee and Linwood have now commenced.
Pavement rehabilitation works are being undertaken concurrently along two sections of the Horrocks Highway, immediately south of Tarlee for approximately three kilometres and north of the bridge at Linwood for approximately one and half kilometres.
The works, which started on Wednesday, 24 August 2022, will include the removal of existing pavement and replacing it with new bitumen, as well as shoulder sealing, line marking, and drainage works.
Works will be undertaken between 7am and 5pm, Monday to Saturday, with completion expected in the last quarter of 2022, weather permitting.
During work hours, the highway will be reduced to a single lane of traffic with speed restrictions and temporary lights in place to control the direction of traffic. Outside of working hours the highway will re-open to a single lane of traffic in each direction with speed restrictions in place.
These sections of the Horrocks Highway will be unsealed during most of the works.
Road users are asked to plan, expect delays, allow extra travel time and take care when workers are on site. Observe speed limits, lane restrictions and traffic controllers when travelling through the area.
The works being undertaken between Tarlee and Linwood are funded through the $315 million Road Safety Package, jointly funded by the Australian and South Australian governments (80:20).
The Horrocks Highway Corridor Upgrade is delivering infrastructure improvements along the 245-kilometre section of the highway between Wilmington and Gawler, to improve safety, connectivity and freight efficiency.
