Port Lincoln pavement renewal project kicks off

The first stage of pavement renewal works aimed at improving road safety and amenity in the centre of Port Lincoln will begin on Sunday, 19 February.

The Australian and South Australian governments are jointly funding (on an 80:20 basis) pavement renewal works along Port Lincoln’s main street (Lincoln Highway and Liverpool Street) and nearby locations in the town centre.

These works form part of the governments’ $51.25 million commitment to Eyre Peninsula road upgrades under the Roads of Strategic Importance (ROSI) initiative and the state government’s Annual Asset Renewal Program.

The pavement renewal works will be undertaken in two stages, with Stage 1 being undertaken by Boral at the following locations:

• Liverpool Street – Mortlock Terrace to Porter Street (including on-street car park areas)
• Porter Street – London Street to Edinburgh Street
• London Street – Porter Street to King Street, including the London Street / Porter Street intersection
• The Lebrun Street / Mortlock Terrace / Porter Street roundabout.

Major works for Stage 1 are expected to be completed in early April 2023, weather permitting.

Stage 2 works will be undertaken later this year on the Lincoln Highway, from Flinders Highway to Mortlock Terrace, to coincide with four intersection upgrades that are also planned for this section of the Lincoln Highway as part of the ROSI investment.

To minimise the impact on road users, the majority of the Stage 1 works will be undertaken at night, Monday to Sunday between 6pm and 7am.

To safely facilitate the works, local detours as well as speed and lane restrictions will be in place.

Some work outside of these times may be required, with advance notice provided, and speed restrictions may remain in place during the day, subject to on-site conditions.

Road users are asked to please plan ahead, expect delays, allow extra travel time and take extra care when workers are on site.

Observe speed limits, lane restrictions and traffic controllers when travelling through the area.
