Park ‘n’ Ride ‘n’ have your say
Wednesday, 28 June 2023
Public transport users and locals are being encouraged to have their say on plans for the expanded Crafers Park ‘n’ Ride.
The South Australian Government has committed $6 million to deliver the expansion, which will see 85 new parking spaces added.
As part of the plan, a new Park ‘n’ Ride will be built to the southeast of the existing Crafers Park ‘n’ Ride, next to the Crafers off ramp (westbound) and the South Eastern Freeway.
The Crafers site is the closest Park ‘n’ Ride to the city in the Adelaide Hills and the upgrade will encourage use of public transport by allowing more people to leave their cars in a safe and secure location and take a bus into the city.
The 85 new car parking spaces will include accessible spaces, and there will also be motorcycle parking. This will mean in total the two Crafers sites will feature more than 120 parking spaces.
The site will also include new lighting and CCTV to increase safety and security, along with new shared use paths and landscaping.
Concept plans for the facility have been released, with the Department for Infrastructure and Transport now seeking community feedback to help inform the final detailed design.
Construction is due to commence in late 2023 and be completed by mid-2024, weather permitting.
