Don’t be late for a very important date – automate your car registration with direct debit renewal and put the brakes on costly late fines.

Running late on your rego and driving an uninsured vehicle carries heavy penalties in South Australia and can leave motorists up to $1500 out of pocket.

Direct debit is a simple way to keep vehicle registration on track and takes the worry out of when to renew, saving households time and ensuring payments stay up to date.

Recent improvements to the mySAGOV account ensure a smooth ride online, with families able to set up automatic payments, add or remove vehicles on direct debit, and choose a renewal period to suit their budget.

If your registration is due to expire in less than four weeks, a one-month payment is needed upfront to start the process, with registration then paid by the month, quarter, or year.

SMS and email reminders notify vehicle owners when their regular payment is due, so families can plan ahead to ensure enough funds are available in their chosen account.

If the payment fails for any reason, motorists are notified one month before their registration expires, providing plenty of time to avoid a fine.

Once renewed with direct debit, registration certificates are available electronically through your mySAGOV account.

It is a motorist’s responsibility to ensure their car is registered before they hit the road, with a vehicle’s registration valid until midnight of the expiry date.
