Reminder: Long-weekend temporary Gawler rail line closure
Wednesday, 5 June 2024
The Gawler rail line will temporarily close for maintenance and level crossing renewal works this long-weekend from 9pm Friday, 7 June to last service Monday, 10 June.
The works include station and signalling maintenance, along with level crossing and infrastructure upgrades, which cannot be safely undertaken while trains are operating in the electrified rail corridor.
Services will resume as normal from first service Tuesday, 11 June.
Substitute buses will operate during the temporary closure, servicing all stops between Adelaide Railway Station and Gawler Central Railway Station.
An extra bus stop will be in service near Gawler and Barossa Jockey Club to cater for racegoers travelling to and from the Barossa Cup on Monday.
During the full line closure, works will also occur at the Hawker Street, North Adelaide level crossing. Some detours and bus stop closures will be in place in the area for motorists and Adelaide Metro bus routes.
The line closure has been carefully planned to minimise the impact on train passengers, nearby residents and road users but some delays are expected. Please allow extra time when travelling.
Adelaide Metro apologises for the inconvenience during these temporary closures, and thanks commuters for their patience while these important works are undertaken.
Passengers are encouraged to plan their trip in advance at www.adelaidemetro.com.au. You can also phone the Adelaide Metro InfoLine on 1300 311 108 (7am to 8pm daily).
