Transfer your boat registration online

To make things simpler, easier and more convenient, you can transfer expired or current boat registration online with a mySAGOV account.

The time-saving online option is similar to transferring a vehicle registration.

When you buy a boat, simply:

1. log in to your mySAGOV account
2. select “Transfer boat to my name”
3. input the boat registration number, seller's SA driver's licence or client number and the seller’s last name.

An option will appear at the end of this process to add a boat trailer transfer if needed. This means you can skip the queue and complete both transactions online.

If you don’t already have a mySAGOV account, find instructions for how to create a new account.

Note, the online option is not available if the boat:

• is from interstate
• has never been registered before
• requires Hull Identification Number (HIN) validation.

In these cases, visit a Service SA centre for assistance with the required documentation.
