SOUTH AUSTRALIA - GULF ST VINCENT AND SPENCER GULF – MARITIME SECURITY ZONES

The general public, and mariners in particular, are reminded that Maritime Security Zones are established under the Maritime Transport and Offshore Facilities Security Act 2003 within the security regulated ports of Port Adelaide, Port Giles, Wallaroo, Port Pirie, Port Lincoln and Thevenard.

Access to Maritime Security Zones is controlled.

Unauthorised entry is prohibited and is an offence under the Maritime Transport and Offshore Facilities Security Regulations 2003. Penalties apply.

Waterside Restricted Zones

At Marine Security (MARSEC) Level 1, a Waterside Restricted Zone (WRZ) will be activated:

At the Flinders Adelaide Container Terminal (FACT) for the berthing of any security regulated ship;
At any berth due to host a security regulated passenger ship; and
At M Berth, Outer Harbor Berth 4 or Kirton Point when due to host a security regulated ship carrying, or to be loaded with, chemicals, oil or gas.

At MARSEC Levels 2 and 3, a WRZ will be activated at any berth due to host a security regulated ship.

A Waterside Restriction Zone (WRZ) will be activated 30 minutes prior to the ship’s scheduled arrival time and will remain in force until the vessel has cleared the zone.

Advice to Mariners

WRZ are clearly identified by land-based signage.

Mariners must not enter an activated WRZ without authorisation.

Mariners are advised to exercise caution when operating near port facilities and to maintain a clearance distance of at least 50 metres from the wharf or jetty face at all times.
