REMINDER: New Laws about Lifejacket wearing in SA
Thursday, 22 November 2018
South Australian's are reminded that lifejacket laws changed on 1 December 2017 to help keep our community safe when enjoying our state’s waterways.
A 12 month awareness and education phase was undertaken by DPTI Marine Safety Officers throughout 2018 to enable boaters to become familiar with the new laws and to replace existing lifejackets where necessary.
Boaters are advised these new laws will now be enforced, so it is important to check when and what type of lifejacket you and your crew now need to wear before the start of summer.
Please note that children under 12 years of age, or weighing less than 40kg, must not wear an inflatable lifejacket.
