Main South Road bridge over Southern Expressway temporary closure from 7 January 2020
Thursday, 2 January 2020
As part of the Darlington Upgrade Project, the bridge that takes northbound traffic over the Southern Expressway to the Main South Road surface road will be closed for five weeks, from 6am, 7 January 2020, to facilitate construction of the shared use path and kerbing.
From Tuesday, 7 January 2020, northbound motorists wishing to access Sturt Road, Laffer Drive and Shepherds Hill Road will be detoured via Marion Road to Sturt Road.
Access will remain unchanged for:
- Flinders Drive via the dedicated lane adjacent Brookside Road
- South Road via the Southern Expressway (lowered motorway)
- Ayliffes Road via the Southern Expressway (lowered motorway)
Speed and lane restrictions will apply in the vicinity of the works. Signage will alert motorists to the changed traffic conditions.
Pedestrians and cyclists will be detoured via Marion Road and Sturt Road. The existing bus stop services will not be impacted by this change.
