Port Augusta
The department has released a draft Road Management plan (RMP) for Port Augusta
An overall review of the operational and safety issues for the arterial road network in Port Augusta. It identified potential short to medium term (5 - 10 years) road improvements for safety and traffic operations along the existing roads.
The arterial road network in Port Augusta considered as part of this RMP is:
- Port Augusta – Port Wakefield Road (locally known as Highway One or Victoria Parade), from Range View Road (Stirling North) intersection to Eyre Highway (Burgoyne Street / Caroona Road) intersection.
- Stuart Highway, between Eyre Highway intersection and Yorkeys Crossing Road intersection.
- Eyre Highway, between Port Augusta – Port Wakefield Road (Highway One) intersection to near Port Augusta airport.
While the Draft RMP proposes a number of recommended treatments, the proposals are presently not funded. Funding for any improvements will be considered against other statewide priorities in future financial years.
Key recommendations of the draft RMP was on public display at the Port Augusta Public Library, Civic Centre, Port Augusta from 3 December 2012 to 24 January 2013.
