Location

Adelaide Metropolitan

The Adelaide Metropolitan Transport study will consider the central Metropolitan Adelaide area, from Hallett Cove in the south to Tea Tree Gully in the north, and how people outside the Metropolitan area travel to and through this region.

The study seeks to better understand the overall transport network in this region and how it impacts all road users, including how it is performing, and to identify potential improvements in line with the State’s Transport Strategy.

We are undertaking this study to:

  • Examine the current key transport issues impacting the metropolitan transport network.
  • Prepare responses to meet these demands which supports delivery of a future transport network that delivers on the State’s Transport Strategy for a connected, safe and liveable region.

This will include considerations of transport demands that will arise due to land use changes under the Greater Adelaide Regional Plan, including significant strategic and corridor infill identified in the region.

Community engagement

Stakeholder and community input is important to ensure the transport study is informed by local insights from those who know the region best – those that live, work, and travel in the region.

Community feedback received during the development of the Department’s Transport Strategy, is being used to help inform this study. This has helped us identify key opportunities for network-wide improvement, specifically addressing congestion, travel time delays, public transport coverage, frequency and reliability, freight management, and road user safety.

Additional targeted stakeholder engagement will occur as the project gets underway.
