Gallipoli Underpass

The Gallipoli Underpass project started in July 2007 and was completed in March 2009.
This underpass was the state government’s first step to transform South Road into a continuous non-stop route.
The $118 million project focused on improving the operational efficiency of South Road. The goal was to meet the freight transport accessibility needs of:
- industry and freight terminals
- depots and warehouses along the industrial north-south spine to the west of the city, including the airport
- the industrial area to the north.
