Acknowledgement by tenant

I am seeking approval to keep the pet(s) stated above at the rental premises. I understand that:

  1. I am responsible for any nuisance or interference with the reasonable peace, comfort or privacy of others who reside in the immediate vicinity of the premises.
  2. I am responsible for keeping the premises and ancillary property in a reasonable state of cleanliness. I must replace or compensate the landlord for the reasonable cost of replacing any ancillary property lost or destroyed while in my care.
  3. I must notify the landlord of damage to the premises or ancillary property.
  4. I must give the premises and ancillary property back to the landlord in reasonable condition at the end of the tenancy.
  5. I acknowledge that a landlord may be entitled to compensation if they reasonably incur costs and expenses as a direct consequence of a tenant being at fault in connection with the RTA.

I understand that I must comply with the local council’s requirements and South Australia’s dog and cat desexing law, including:

  • Dogs and cats must be registered with the local council.
  • Dogs and cats must be microchipped.
  • Desexing is compulsory in South Australia for all dogs and cats born after 1 July 2018. Cats and dogs must be desexed by the age of six months, or within 28 days of when taking possession of a new animal.
  • Even if this application is approved, the tenant will still be liable if the pet causes damage to the premises or ancillary property.
