Look after your vehicle

Crashes can happen when cars are not looked after properly. Make time to check that:

  • your tyres are inflated properly, and have enough tread
  • your windscreen wipers are clean and working, and you have water in your windscreen washer bottle
  • all of your lights - headlights, tail lights, indicators, number plate lights, parking lights - are working
  • your horn is working
  • you have plenty of petrol, oil and radiator fluid.
  • Your car's manual, or a mechanic, will tell you how often you should service your car. A service should check wheels, hoses, radiator, battery, leaks, steering and suspension, brakes, seats and seatbelts, tyres, vehicle body and chassis.
