Access Taxi services

Access Taxis help passengers who use:

  • a wheelchair
  • a scooter
  • a large (ride-on) mobility aide.

Each vehicle is custom-built to keep passengers safe and secure during the ride.

Book an access taxi

Suburban Taxis runs the central booking service for Access Taxis in Adelaide. To book an Access Taxi:

Changes to driver preferencing

You can no longer request a specific driver to pick you up during access taxi hours. These changes help make sure:

  • you receive a good and consistent level of service
  • all access taxi drivers get a fair share of work.

On busy days like Christmas Day, bookings are shared across a large pool of drivers. This helps reduce wait times.

What this means for you

When you book through the Access Taxi Centralised Booking Service, the next available driver will be sent to you.

You can still request your preferred access taxi driver outside of access taxi hours (see below for times).

Medical or behavioural conditions

If you have a genuine medical or behavioural condition that requires a specific driver, send us a request via email at DIT.SATSSAdministration@sa.gov.au.

Access taxi hours

You cannot request a specific driver during these times:

  • Monday to Saturday: 7:30 am to 6:30 pm (except public holidays)
  • Sundays and public holidays: 9:00 am to 5:00 pm
  • Anzac Day: 5:00 am to 5:00 pm
  • Mother’s Day: 10:00 am to 6:00 pm
  • Christmas Day: 9:00 am to 6:00 pm.

The changes do not affect contract work with the Department of Veterans' Affairs or schools.
