Traffic and transport

We understand it is important to keep people moving safely and efficiently around, into and out of the city during construction and the events.

Detailed planning is underway and we will provide more information about how traffic will be managed during construction and events as we work through the detail.

Clear signage and information will be provided in advance to support people walking, cycling, driving and using public transport.

During construction

Detailed planning is underway to carefully stage construction works and minimise impacts on residents, businesses, Adelaide Park Lands users and people travelling through the area.

Some temporary road closures will be required during the construction periods. However, we will coordinate these activities, whenever possible, to avoid busy times on the road network.

Importantly, public transport services, including O-Bahn services, will continue to operate during construction.

During the motorsport events

Road closures for the MotoGP™ event will be managed in a similar way to the bp Adelaide Grand Final.

Detailed planning is underway to identify opportunities to reopen key roads between events wherever possible and introduce additional measures to support travel through the area.

While the final dates for the 2027 MotoGP and Supercars events are yet to be confirmed, around 10 days are expected between the two events.

Measures include:

  • keeping Bartels Road open between events
  • investigating opening Dequetteville Terrace between events on weekdays
  • providing additional bus services
  • limiting closures of the O-Bahn city tunnel between Hackney Road and East Terrace to one day before events and during event periods.

When the O-Bahn city tunnel is closed, O-Bahn services will continue to operate. We are assessing the most suitable diversion route in the city.
