Port Bonython Jetty
We are undertaking maintenance upgrades to the Port Bonython Jetty. This project is fully funded by the South Australian Government and includes critical maintenance works and refurbishing key structural elements of the jetty.
This project is expected to support approximately 65 full-time equivalent jobs over the construction period.
About the project
Located in the Upper Spencer Gulf, the 2.4-kilometre Port Bonython Jetty was constructed in 1982. It is used to export natural gas and crude oil piped from the Moomba basin and import diesel products from overseas refineries. These important works will extend the operational life of the jetty for approximately 40 years.
The works will focus on the platform and berthing and mooring structures at the sea end of the jetty.
Works will include:
- constructing temporary access and encapsulation structures
- removing and replacing existing fenders on two berthing structures
- high pressure hydro blasting to remove outer skin of concrete on berthing and mooring structures.
- re-concreting berthing and mooring structures
- replacing all ship mooring quick release hooks.
Latest news
Construction materials were shipped via barge to the site in late August 2022 with works commencing in September 2022.
